Ursula Falk

Psychotherapist, gerontologist (b. ca. 1960, she tells us).  Born Ursula Adler, Bad Mergentheim, Germany.  Has lived in Buffalo since 1957.  Dr. Falk has written extensively in gerontology and psychotherapy, with works including On Our Own:  Independent Living for Older Persons (1989), a widely disseminated practical guide for older people and their relatives.  Other books include A Critical Study of the American Nursing Home:   The Final Solution (1991), Interviews with Patients in Psychotherapy:   The Client Speaks (1994) and Ageism, the Aged and Aging in America:   On Being Old in an Alienated Society (with Gerhard Falk, 1997).  The National Association of Social Workers presented Dr. Falk with its Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000.
