Jack Yellen

Jack Yellen

Lyricist (1892-1991).  Yellen wrote words to a number of songs that were extraordinarily popular in the first half of the twentieth century.  Some of these have since become standards, notably Ain't She Sweet, My Yiddishe Momma and Happy Days are Here Again.

Yellen also was a music publisher who, in partnership with his frequent musical collaborator Milton Ager, distributed his own works.  Despite the fact that his business was centered in New York City, Yellen commuted frequently across the state and was active in the Buffalo Jewish community even at the height of his career.
