Blacks & Jews

Commentary by Dr. Gerhard Falk

We Will Die for You

Today is June 13, 2005.  This is the day on which the trial of Edgar Ray Killen has been  scheduled in Jackson, Mississippi.

Killen, who is 80 years old, is accused of the murder of three men.  The three victims were Andrew Goodman, a Jewish boy from Ohio, Michael Schwerner, a Jewish boy from New York, and James Chaney an Afro-American from Mississippi.

The details of these murders have been thoroughly explored in numerous books and in the movie Mississippi Burning. Suffice it to say here that the murders of these three men resulted in the first conviction ever of a white lynch mob in Mississippi.  Two of those convicted were given 10 year prison sentences, two received six year prison sentences and three of the defendants were given four year prison sentences.  Three lives were worth only a few months in jail. However, a "hung" jury allowed Killen to escape conviction because he was a preacher.

The two men who died for the Black cause were by no means the only Jews to exert themselves for the cause of civil rights, meaning the rights of blacks.  In fact, during the 1960s innumerable Jews traveled to the rural South at the risk of their lives to help blacks gain the right to vote.

In fact, two Jews, Joel and Arthur Spingarn, founded the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.  Jack Greenberg succeeded Thurgood Marshall as head of the NAACP legal defense fund even as the American Jewish Committee, the American Jewish Congress and the Anti-Defamation League made enormous financial contributions to the Urban League and other civil rights organizations.  In addition, the black mayors of Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Chicago and New York could never have been elected if Jews voted the same as Italians, Poles, and the Irish.

It is impossible to list here all the benefits the black community has derived from American Jews.  It is, however, necessary to once more list some of the consequences of Jewish concern for the black community.

According to a recent survey by the ADL concerning anti-Jewish hatred in America, about 14% of Americans harbor anti-Jewish hate.  However, in the black community anti-Jewish hate is four times greater than is generally true in this country.  In other words, 56% of black Americans are anti-Jewish hate mongers and share the sentiments of Adolf Hitler.

A few examples will suffice to illustrate this hatred.  The black Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, recently reelected from Georgia, not only introduces anti-Israel legislation into Congress every year but also wrote a letter to Prince Alwaleed Bin Tahal of Saudi denouncing Israel and Jews generally.  The civil rights leader Jesse Jackson calls Jews Hymies and New York City Hymietown. The recent candidate for the presidency on the Democratic ticket, Al Sharpton, turned the death of a black child in a traffic accident in Brooklyn into an anti-Jewish riot and the murder of a Jewish Talmud scholar on the streets of New York.  The black leader of the Nation of Islam called Hitler a great man and Judaism a "gutter religion”.  Juan Williams of Black Fox News and professor Cornell West incessantly spread anti-Jewish propaganda in the media and on the campus.

These haters have recently gained a good deal of popularity in American universities, where it has once more become legitimate to preach religious bigotry both in the classroom and in public forums.  Anyone who wants to know so can see for himself the atrocities committed against Jews at Columbia University, Harvard University, San Francisco State University and numerous other campuses around the country.

All of these anti-Jewish measures are principally supported by the black community, who have generally allied themselves with our Arab enemies.

Of course, that large majority of the so-called liberal Jews find a million excuses for black bigotry.  Included in these excuses are efforts to blame the Jews themselves.

We must therefore ask the reasons for this willingness of American Jews to lie down in face of this hostility and once more allow themselves to be victimized by the very same people whom Jews seek to help at every turn even while they literally get their faces kicked in by the recipients of their largess.

The most important explanation for this paradox is the lack of Jewish self-respect.  Large numbers of so-called secular Jews, knowing nothing about Jewish history or Jewish culture, have internalized the bigotries of our enemies.  These secular Jews agree with the ridiculous and brutal stereotypes allocated to us by the haters.  By and large, secular Jews consider it liberal to help our enemies and to undermine support for Israel.  In general, secular Jews are always ready to help those who hate us but are not willing to help other Jews.

The best example of this pathological attitude is the support given by the secular Jewish community to anti-Israel candidates for the presidency and the unwillingness of the same Jews to vote for the only president this country has ever had who has supported Israel against its enemies.

This all reminds me of the German Jews who, in the 1920s and early 1930s, refused to leave Germany in face of the Nazi threat and even of Nazi measures on the grounds that soon the German people will get rid of Hitler and recognize the Jewish contribution to German culture and German welfare.  Well, the Germans didn't get rid of Hitler but got rid of the Jews.

No, the black community in America are not Hitlers and have no power to murder us here.  It is, however, certain that if the Jewish community once more succeeds in electing a Democrat for the presidency then the black community will use its influence on a Democratic president to prevent the support of Israel by the United States.  Should that occur, it will have two actual consequences.  First, without American support, the 5 1/2 million Jews in Israel would be gravely endangered and second, those American Jews supporting Israel will here be accused of double loyalty.  In short, our efforts on behalf of the black community can do us no good.  We would be much better off if the money we spend on black concerns were spent on Jewish concerns.

It is unknown at this writing whether Edgar Ray Killen will be convicted this time around.  There are those who already saying that one ought not to convict an old man, now age 80.  Yet the fact remains that Schwerner and Goodman were murdered because they were Jews in a cause for people perfectly willing to kill them over again if they could.

P.S. Although we are only 1.8% of the American population, 75% of all so-called "freedom fighters" who went south in the 1960s were Jews.  How many blacks went to Israel to fight in any of Israel's wars for survival?

Shalom u’vracha.
