Germans' Attitude Toward Jews

The country is called “Deutschland” by its citizens. It is the country of the Holocaust, the country of mass murder of an unprecedented scale, the country which has led all others in hatred of the Jewish people.

Not long ago a journalist named Tuvia Tenenbaum traveled throughout Germany on behalf of the German book publisher Rohwohlt. His assignment was to survey the German population concerning the Jews.

Tenenbaum discovered that almost all Germans whom he interviewed are obsessed with Jews. According to Tenenbaum, Germans continue to talk about rich Jews, shrewd Jews, and manipulating Jews. In addition, the German population largely views Jews as obsessed by money. We know better. The truly money crazy people in this world are the German population, who stole all the money, all the land, all the houses, all the furniture, and all possessions of the 6 million Jews they murdered. Furthermore, the Germans to this day also have in their possession the property they stole from the 3 million Jews who escaped Europe.

After Tenenbaum had written a book concerning German religious hate, the head of the Rohwohlt company refused to publish the book on the grounds that he considered Tenenbaum a hysterical Jew for revealing the continuing German hate. Finally the book was published by the most prestigious of German publishers, Suhrkamp. This led German critics “to go ballistic” and deny that most Germans today still seek to persecute and murder the few Jews living among them.

There can be little doubt the German population now has no guilt at all about the atrocities they committed 75 years ago. Their argument is that they were all born too late to have been associated with the mass murders of the European Jews. That is indeed true, except for some very old people among them. However, all those Germans living now would be more than happy to once more engage in yet another Holocaust if the opportunity presented itself.

Indeed, the present German government under Angela Merkel has been most friendly to Israel and to the Jewish citizens of Germany. This, however, has nothing to do with the general German population, whose culture includes an ingrained hate of all Jews and everything Jewish.

The culture of any people consists of three parts. There is the material culture, which consists of any material object. Then there is the ideological culture, which deals with  what people believe. Finally, there is behavioral culture, which consists of what people do. German writings, including novels, poetry, songs, and academic books include constant recitations depicting Jews in the most unfavorable light. This is what Pope John XXIII called The Teaching of Contempt. Whether at home or in school or in their churches, the Germans meet only negative mention of Jews. These beliefs translate into action, so that it is by no means certain that another Holocaust will not descend on the German and other European Jews.

Today the French Jews are leaving in ever greater numbers, as it is no longer possible for a Jew to walk in the streets without risking assault or murder.

 Obviously, no one Jew is safe anywhere in Europe, so that it is most likely that soon Europe will be  devoid of Jews. In view of what happened the last time, it would normally be hard to understand why the European Jews do not leave immediately. Yet we are all acquainted with that famous dictum, “All we learn from history is that we learn nothing from history.”
