A Word with Rabbi Moshe Taub |
Between Har Nof and Buffalo Dear Friends, While Buffalo is being hit by a physical storm, the Jewish world was hit with an emotional one. The images coming out of Har Nof are something out of a nightmare. I will not, here, expound on those horrid events from either a political or philosophical point of view. The chilling images coming from Har Nof display Talleisim and Teffilin stained with Jewish blood. If America rightfully responds to terror through going about their daily lives, shopping, etc., then we as Jews must respond to this tragic event through Talis, Teffilin and Tefilah. We shall don them in life as they donned them in death. I implore all men who may have not donned Teffilin in some time to put them on today, and tomorrow. If in Israel they have not responded to these events by stopping to go to shul, then we in Buffalo, NY shall respond by putting effort in trying to attend. While YIGB’s Minyanim have been strong, even during this storm, would it not send a message if even more people would join us? It need not be YIGB, because anywhere that Jews join together to put on Teffilin would send the same majestic message. I believe this is one of the noble ways to respond to those evil acts. May Klal Yisroel know tragedy no more. Rabbi Moshe Taub Rabbi Moshe Taub
